Jeff was the keynote speaker of the conference where he taught for two hours.
After speaking we were invited to D.R. Congo and Kenya to speak at three different Christian events. The church leaders from Kenya were very excited about the Bible teaching and want us to come there. One of the events is in Meru, Kenya and the other will be held in Nairobi. We will pray about these opportunities. The Lord keeps opening doors for us for us. To God be the glory!

Two men even rode sixty miles each way on one bicycle so they could be there!
The were taught about the importance of Bible study and how to try and discover what the scriptures meant to the original author and recipients. They were guided through a complete process for sermon preparation.
They were also introduced to our Sewing Hope and Bread Making ministries. These are two Bible based income generating projects that we offer from Where He Leads.
Some were even signed up for internet based Bible training through Nations University.
Each congregation represented registered with the association of churches and was given an email account with Where He Leads.
The conference was a real success as each area requested further training.
In 2009 there were 124,000 new cases reported. In 2010 there were 128,000 new cases reported in Uganda. The number of new cases that were reported in 2011 were approximately 145,000. The numbers of new cases of HIV/AIDS just keep increasing each year.
One new case of this deadly disease is too many, let alone more than 145,000 in a year. That is roughly 400 people contracting HIV/AIDs every single day in Uganda!
Uganda is not a big country. The land is about the same size as the state of Oregon. 400 new cases per day is way too many!
We have known so many people who have died of AIDS in Uganda. We have many friends who are suffering right now.
One of the best way for us to combat this terrible disease is through education.
All of the church leaders listened as Gordon shared the information that he had prepared for them. The teaching was followed by a question answer section with small groups and lively discussion. This is a topic that has directly affected each of the churches that was represented so they were very invested in the discussion.
Education is the key. The information that was given here can be
later shared with each of the churches and communities represented.

He had been facing some hurdles and had to get approval from the authorities. We sent a letter of introduction and other documents to help in the process.
Where He Leads wants to help individuals and churches fulfill the great commission. The lights, turn signals, muffler and air filter were smashed. The mechanics have been working on it for a couple of weeks but now it is running. Today Derrick was able to mow the airstrip! It is so much easier and faster than the way were doing it.
Chris is going to build a wooden shed for the tractor to keep it out of the rain and to protect it from thieves and vandals.
Thank you Derrick for mowing!
They had to struggle with wind and rain storms as we could not afford to put a roof up yet. We improvised with tarps the best we could and we built a wooden wall on the back We have a metal hangar stored in a container in Tyler, Texas waiting to be shipped. We need to raise about $10,000 to get it here.
We are trying to figure out a way to build a strong roof that can protect the plane until the hangar can arrive. The plane is parked between two forty foot containers so a roof could be built on those.
The work continues on the plane as the prop was sent to Kenya to be overhauled as the airplane electrician inspects the instrument and all of the electrical components.
One major problem that we discovered is the fuel tanks may be damaged. To replace the fuel cells can be a big job and quite costly. We are looking into different options.
We are doing everything we can to make sure that the plane is in the safest condition that we can make it.
We are really pleased with the way the plane looks with the new paint!

In the past we used the tractor to mow the airstrip, haul building supplies and carry things to camp. We had the fuel lifter pump go out and then thieves came stole the alternator and other parts which we needed to operate the tractor.
They also took the air filter unit, the seat and the cover to the muffler which keeps the rain out of the engine. Apparently they also broke the muffler off. One of the bush hog mowers was stolen as well.
We did not notice that the muffler was left in such a way that water could get in. We got the lift pump and alternator replaced. But we still had trouble getting it started.
The mechanic decided that the engine had to be opened up and worked on. That is what he is doing now.
While attending a church leaders conference I was sitting next to an older gentleman who is from the Baptist church. He was struggling to read his Bible through a broken pair of women’s reading glasses.
I asked him if he new his prescription. He had no idea.
So the following day I brought a selection of reading glasses with different strengths. He tried on several pairs until he found the ones that worked best for him. He was so excited.
Other pastors shared that they have the same problem so I offered to help any of the pastors who were there. A half a dozen pastors immediately signed up. I drove them all to our home and we gave them some banana bread and drinks. Then we began to have each of them look at the eye chart. They tried different ones until they found the glasses they wanted.
They were all so happy! They praised the Lord. Thanks us and then prayed.
“I will now be able to prepare my sermons and read my Bible again!”
The Senior Pastor of the Baptist church thank us for our love and unity that we showed by helping leaders from different denominations.
One of the pastors from the Rwengoma Anointed Church of Jesus Christ Thanks us and said, “May God bless you for the great thing you have done! You have helped all of these pastors to be able to read their Bibles. I promise to read mine now that I can see clearly.”

It is such joy to be able to teach the outstanding caliber of students who are already leaders in their churches and organizations.
Through the friendships we have formed we have had a number of requests for additional teaching and training. Recently an Anglican Bishop contacted us and wanted us to do a Where He Leads seminar about marriage.
We have also taught a number of condensed course based on the DAI material here in Western Uganda. A special thanks goes to DAI for allowing us to use the material they have created.
This semester I am teaching the masters level course Women in Leadership and ministry at UCU. We had one week face to face and the students send their assignments to me by email. I have students from Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan. What a joy these students are!
(The photo above shows the students from all three classes.)
They will reset the window with screws instead of rivets. They will replace the skin and stringers where there was some damage in shipping. They will put the wings, tail and engine all back together. There is a long list of things they will do before the inspection phase will begin.
We are finally going to get this ministry off the ground! “Excitement”does not even come close to describing the feeling we all have around here because of this news!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!! Other items can be secured on top of the box and carried just like things in the luggage rack on top of the Land Cruiser. The box can be removed from the trailer if we have large items to carry.
We brought the trailer back full from Kampala with gear and supplies for Where He Leads. The import duty and road license have already been paid. It is rated to carry 2200 kgs (about two tons).
As soon as it is ready we want to get the large table and bed that we are storing in Kampala. We bought the table and bed for Camp Saaaka. Her pastor and relatives have shared how thankful they are to us, for helping to pay for Susan’s medical treatment after her Muslim father locked her in a room and tried to starve her to death. He was punishing her for becoming a Christian.
We plan to travel to her village and visit Susan in the next few weeks. Please pray for Susan.

We designed the rack in such a way that we could carry building supplies, luggage or even our boat on the top of the truck.
This improvement will make the Hilux more useful and save us from having to hire vehicles to transport things that we can now just carry on top.

These properties were purchased not by the church but by us and will be used to encourage all of the churches and ministries. This property is just below the tent and we hope to build an outdoor amphitheater using rock steps. The ground is already formed in the perfect shape so construction will not be too difficult.

We keep armed guards at the airstrip 24 hours a day. We had a problem this day with cows on the runway so we worked together to chase them off.
We are building a new fence to go all the way around the airstrip to make it safer for landing aircraft. Our old fence fell down after a grass fire and was taken. We are hoping to use rock and make some fireproof fence pillars.

The article mentioned that she is in Kagando Hospital near Bwera about an hour south of Kasese. After teaching in Nairobi I flew back to Uganda.
Today three of us went to see and encourage Susan with the love of Christ.
We drove to Kasese and then south towards the game park. I turned off the main road right near the equator sign and followed the road towards the DRC. (Democratic Republic of Congo) We reached Kagando hospital and began to ask around for Susan. We found her in the surgical ward.
We also located her mother. Her mother is now caring for her. The father has not been to see her one time while she has been at the hospital.
Derrick, James and I talked with the nurse and we were told a terrible story of abuse and injustice.
Susan's mother does not speak English or Rutooro so we had a challenge trying to communicate when the nurse was not around.
I told them about the article I read posted on facebook by my friend. When I said that the three of us have driven all the way from Fort Portal just to see you, Susan ... she smiled a beautiful smile. She was so happy.
You came all the way just to see me?
yes
She was beaming from ear to ear.
The mother was happy as well.
I told them that I am a minister or pastor with the Fort Portal Church of Christ and when we heard what had happened we had to come!
The mother thanked us over and over.
Derrick shared how Jesus loves her and can heal her and how she should keep put her trust in him.
I gave Susan a prayer card that has a picture of my family. I showed her my children and this made her really happy. She repeated the names Isaac and Silas. This is my daughter Kinley. This is Alex. This is Isaac and this young boy is Silas.
The nurse answered our questions and helped us to understand. Susan was locked in a dark room for six months and starved by her Muslim father after she said she believed in Jesus at school. Her brother poured water in a little hole he dug under the door and she would lick it off the floor. He snuck her some cooked bananas as well. She even ate mud. After six months of torture her brother told some neighbors who brought the police and rescued her. She was nearly dead from starvation. She was taken to this hospital hospital.
She needed to go to a hospital in Kampala for a procedure. The nurses and doctors from Kagando each contributed to help her go. She was then brought back to Kagando.
The nurse went on to explain that the mother does not have the money to pay for all of the treatment she has gotten in last 9-10 months.
She showed me the bills.
I took the mother and asked her to go with me to the cash office.
We payed for all of her hospital bill for Kigando hospital. (so far)
The nurse thought that Susan would need probably four more months of physical therapy.
We exchanged phone numbers and she will call when Susan is ready to go home.
At the end of our visit I wanted Susan to know that she is loved and it is because of Jesus that we were there. He loves her.
I knelt down next to Susan and put my hand on her shoulder and led a prayer.
She was so thankful for the help. The mother was so proud and thankful that we had come and paid the bills.
I thought of the teaching of Jesus which says "whatever you do to the least of these brothers of mine you do to me."
As I thought of the verse, my thoughts went to her father. He has hurt this beautiful girl who is made in the image of God. He starved her to the point that she can't move her left leg. He needs the love of Christ! We need to pray for him.
As a Christian I am called to love... not hate.
bless... not curse
forgive... not carry a grudge
make peace... not conflict
to be humble ... not proud
to repay evil... with kindness
Jesus said, "in this world you will tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

When I saw Susan I could see Christ. She has a precious smile and a cute laugh. I wish you could have seen us laughing together today.
I thank the Lord for this beautiful girl.
May the Lord be praised for everything that happened today. He is amazing. His Spirit guides and prompts and He is turning this dark situation to light.

The Lord has encourage a little Christian girl in Western Uganda whose muslim father tried to starve her to death.
Jesus truly is the bread of life.

Today was a good day!
